Elliot Page has shared a topless selfie and described the “joy” he feels in his body after getting gender affirming care.
The 36-year-old actor revealed he had had top surgery in 2021 after coming out as transgender the year before.
In a recent Instagram post captioned “#transjoy”, he opened up about his past experience of gender dysphoria.
“Dysphoria used to be especially rife in the summer. No layers, just a T-shirt – or layers and oh so sweaty – constantly looking down, readjusting my oversized T.
“It feels so f’ing good soaking in the sun now, I never thought I could experience this, the joy I feel in my body.”
He described how top surgery had changed his life.
“I am so grateful for what gender affirming care has allowed me,” he wrote.
In an interview after having top surgery, Page said the procedure had been “life saving”.
His memoir Pageboy comes out on 6 June and the actor is about to head off on a book tour to promote it.
He told People magazine: “I am grateful for the opportunity to engage with readers and listeners across the country about it, and to celebrate other queer and trans stories along the way as well.”
