It's not really a big achievement beating England tbh. They have 1 European trophy (Back in 66) Same like Greece (Euro cup 2004) So in conclusion Italy beating England is like Italy beating Greece. Both are not a successful footballing nation.

Italy was sloppy at the start but grew into the game and in the second half controlled the game and got the deserved equalizer and tried to get the winner, as England just sat back, after taking the lead, and only in patches tried to win it in extra time. Italy held the nerve just to win the shootout, with the keeper the hero. England as in past Tournaments, can not beat the better sides, as they do not play to their Strengths in trying to win the game and sit back and lose their nerve on penalties.

Are winning penalty shootouts really just a lottery? If so why do some teams nearly always win them i.e. Liverpool winning the Champions League and FA Cup both on pen shootouts in a year and Germany winning them alot. Isn't it also about nerve as well?
