As announced on 14 September 2022, you know that, due to extraordinary circumstances, the XVI edition of the World Padel Championships will not be staged in Doha, Qatar, but rather in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 31 October to 5 November 2022 and will be organised by the affiliated member UAEPA together with the FIP.

This caused another unprecedented occurrence. Namely, since the Africa/Asia qualifiers had already been played when the venue change was deliberated, Qatar National Team did not take part in them because they were directly admitted to the final stage in their capacity of Host Federation. At the same time, following the change of venue, the UAE National Man and Women Teams is now entitled to take part in the final stage. In turn, this affected also other qualifications, such as Paraguay – ranked tenth in the women’s category – did not play the Qualifier, since the South American qualifiers had been already played as well.

After an in-depth analysis with the Sports Department, and in the main interest of not harming the participation of players and their Federations, therefore we inform you that, after the unanimous deliberation of the Board of Directors, the Final Stages of the World Championships have been extended from 16 to 17 teams in both categories, allowing the participation of the women’s team of UAE – qualified in its status as hosts – while avoiding the non -classification of the Paraguayan women’s team, for not having had the possibility of disputing the South American qualifying stage, and in the same way the Qatar male team – previously classified automatically by virtue of its status as a host nation – should not be excluded by the change of venue.

This deliberation has been made in the best interests of ensuring the integrity and fairness of the most important competition of the year for players and Federations.
